Getting started#

Try your first session with Automexia v0.4.0 Public Alpha on Linux. Start with a non-sensitive directory and keep your existing terminal open.

Install and launch#

Follow Installation, including the signature and checksum checks. Start the Automexia Terminal desktop entry after installing a DEB or RPM, or use the portable launch command in that guide.

Check that automexia --version reports 0.4.0 for an installed package. The application needs a desktop session and should run without administrator rights.

Your first session#

  1. Confirm the active shell and working directory.
  2. Run pwd or another harmless command you understand.
  3. Open a tab for a separate task, then split a pane to keep related work visible.
  4. Select the intended pane before typing or pasting.
  5. Try search with a short piece of visible output.
  6. Open the command palette to discover actions.
  7. Adjust font size or appearance if needed; start with other defaults.

Your shell still owns commands, history, profiles, completion, and credentials. Automexia provides the surrounding terminal workspace.

Shortcuts and preferences#

Some Alpha bindings differ from familiar shell shortcuts, including Ctrl+R and Ctrl+D. Check the release-specific shortcut guide before relying on a binding. The broader keyboard reference describes configuration options and may cover behavior beyond this package.

Font-size and appearance preferences persist. Do not assume that arbitrary UI state, workspaces, or running sessions will be restored after closing the app. Back up configuration before changing it or installing a later Alpha.

Evaluate the workflows you need#

Try resize, focus, paste, search, and shell integration in your own environment before relying on them. Command decorations depend on shell integration. Check the known limitations if output, focus, or layout behaves unexpectedly.

Do not place credentials in screenshots or shared configuration. For feedback, prepare a minimal reproduction with private paths and terminal output removed. General support intake is not open yet.
